EMILY KINGSBURY first left her native Sweden thirty years ago to work for her country's Consulate in Lisbon. She stayed on and over the years has gained a deep knowledge of Portugal, the Portuguese language and way of life. Her enthusiasm for authentic regional foods and crafts is complemented by her personal skills in the kitchen and accomplished work as a potter. | ROGER DAVIES moved to Spain in 1987, living for a short while in the town of Soria in the north before heading south to Seville. After working as a teacher and in the computing industry he went into the wine industry. Food and wine have been two of his main interests since arriving in Spain and finally he was able to work in something for which he felt a passion. He finally decided at the start of 2002 to set up his own company offering a range of activities related to food and wine. This is where he finds himself at the moment sharing his interest and knowledge with others. |
MARGOT DIAZ is a member of Lisbon's Anglo-Portuguese community. Born in England, married in Portugal, her painter's vision was shaped by a long residency in Angola. Back in Portugal, she continued to paint, and today exhibits her work in Lisbon. When not at her easel, Margot shares her love of art and architecture with our travelers to Portugal and Spain. | CARLOS LINARES has been leading active tours since 1978. With special interest in wine tasting, the arts, nature, authentic local experiences and the pleasure of local cuisine, he is an expert on some of the most representative and attractive parts of Spain. |
American born, GABRIELLA RANELLI DE AGUIRRE, is an experienced guide and translator with a degree in art history. She has worked in contemporary art galleries in Madrid and New York. Her passions are travel and food. Most comfortable in Spanish and English she also speaks French and Italian with a smattering of Basque. For the last 11 years Gabriella has lived in San Sebastián with her husband, a professional Basque pelota player. | CAROL UNGAR is our Operations Director for Spain and Portugal. A native Californian, she moved to Spain from Central America a decade ago. Based in San Sebastián, Carol is a translator by profession and a walking and hiking enthusiast by inclination. Whether walking with her or enjoying a more sedentary tour, you'll benefit from her wide knowledge of history, modern Spanish literature, and enjoyment in all things Spanish. |
