A cruise on rails |
|
El Transcantábrico is a train that revives the tradition of cruises on rails. Whether from Santiago de Compostela to León, or vice versa, all the magic of northern Spain awaits you. From the summits of the Picos de Europa mountain range to the shores of the Cantabrian sea the enchanting cities and villages of the north — Santiago de Compostela, Vivero, Oviedo, Ribadesella, Llanes, Santillana del Mar, Santander, Bilbao, León — are full of vitality and history.
On board the train there are suites catering for two people or for individuals Each compartment features a double bed, private bathroom with hydro-sauna, individual air-conditioning and heating controls, wardrobe, desk, telephone with an outside line, and minibar. The train stops overnight in the stations along the route so you sleep comfortably.
As you travel through the lands of Castile y León and along the Cantabrian coast, it becomes obvious that gastronomy plays an integral part in the route. Galicia, Asturias, Pais Vasco and Castile y León are regions offering some of Spain’s finest cuisine. The tour restaurants choose the best ingredients to prepare local specialties, as well as international dishes, and feature regional wines with every meal. The train offers a complete buffet style breakfast.
