Visit two very different regions of Spain, the Northeast Coast and the East Coast-Bilbao and San Sebastián in the heart of Basque Country, famed for its chefs and imaginative cuisine, and Barcelona featuring Catalan cooking, a blend of Mediterranean and classic French. The Wine Regions are dramatically different, producing exceptional wines from indigenous varietals.
Arrive Bilbao. Transfer to San Sebastián, the Pearl on the Bay of Biscay. Stay in a 19th c villa in
this capital of chic renowned for its award-winning chefs. A late afternoon city tour winds past
the beautiful Playa La Concha to the old quarter and our Tasting Room. Welcome Reception,
Wine & Pinxtos/Tapas in the heart of el Antiguo.

Breakfast. Departure for a Market tour, followed by a morning focused on A Short History of
Cod among the Basque People: Bacalao & Basque Cooking. Prepare 5 dishes: sample your
success with Txacolí wines. This afternoon visit the Eduardo Chillida Sculpture Museum. Free
time to shop and enjoy the beach before an evening meeting with a local personality over drinks & appetizers in a signature café.

Breakfast. Depart for St Jean de Luz and a
guided walking tour of this lovely fishing
town. Continue to Restaurante Mugaritz, to
dine in one of Spain’s most celebrated
restaurants. After lunch, visit a nearby farm
to visit producers of duck products and
artisan cheeses. Arrive in time for milking!
Return to San Sebastián for a free evening.

Breakfast. Transfer to Bilbao, powerhouse of the Basque economy. You’ll appreciate the extent
of the city’s renovations on a city tour that highlights signature buildings and follows the
Nervión River to the world-renowned Guggenheim Museum designed by Frank Gehry. After a
guided tour of the Museum with an art historian, sit down to lunch in Bersateguí’s famous
Guggenheim Restaurant. After lunch, fly to Barcelona. Hotel check in is followed by welcome
drinks in a Cava bar. Your hotel is in the heart of the Gothic Quarter.

Breakfast. This morning’s wanderings through the Gothic Quarter wind past the Cathedral,
Generalitat, and atmospheric streets of the old guild quarters to the Museu de la Xocolata,
housed in a former Agustinian convent. Catalunya has a deserved reputation for its chocolate
confections. Test your skills in today’s Chocolate Workshop. Walk on to the port area painted
many times by Picasso for a seafood lunch at La Barceloneta. After lunch, you’ll visit Sagrada
Familia, Gaudí’s great unfinished Cathedral where craftsmen today employ the same skills as
those in the Middle Ages. You’ll have sweeping city views from the surreal Parque Güell
designed for the great architect’s patron. From there the Modernist trail returns along Paseo de
Gracía and back to your hotel. Free evening to explore the city that never sleeps.

Breakfast. 09.30 follow your guide through the stalls of La Boquería Market. Continue to Gaudí’s
extraordinary Casa Milà for a tour. Afterwards, you’ll continue to our local Cooking School to
prepare three typical Catalan dishes for lunch, complemented by a wine tasting of regional
varietals. After lunch, take a guided walk through the gallery district of Raval and the Born, to
the Picasso Museum. Once inside, explore the work of Spain’s 20th century genius. Late
afternoon enjoy free time before an evening harbor cruise with cocktails and appetizers.

Breakfast. Travel north to the rugged Costa Brava for a day of art and timeless villages. Visit
Salvador Dalí’s Museum at Figueres; continue to his former home at Cadaqués for a beach lunch
in the heart of this white village. Nearby are the walled medieval villages of Pals and Peretellada,
centers of arts and crafts; take time to wander, shop, take photographs before returning to the
city.

Breakfast. Travel north into the rolling vineyard country of DO Penedès, a region of medieval
towns, wineries and ancient monasteries. Visit Poblet Monastery, an ancient Roman glassworks
again today in operation, and enjoy private hosted winery visits to two distinct producers of still
and sparkling wines. Sit down to lunch in a Catalan farmhouse. Return early evening to
Barcelona. A special Farewell to Barcelona this evening.
