Beginning and ending in Malaga, enjoy a week's walking while based at a hotel with pool in Cómpeta. The first walk is an easy one, along the old mule trail to Canillas, through olive, orange and lemon groves, with lovely views to the Mediterranean (easy, 3-5 hours).
The following day, a steady ascent to La Mina involves a 1700 foot climb, rewarded by a sweeping vista to Africa (moderate, 4-5 hours). Andalucia is known for its white villages; the third walk moves between Salares and Sedella, with time for tapas before crossing the river on a Roman bridge and circling back to Cómpeta (easy, 4-5 hours). Day 5 is a rest day, with the option of an excursion to Granada.
The next day, the 5810 foot summit of Lucero beckons (strenuous, 5-6 hours). The village based walking tour concludes with a descent to the Mediterranean, where a paella lunch awaits on the beach (easy, 3-4 hours). The following morning, departing walkers are transferred to Malaga airport.
