Meet in Málaga on the Mediterranean. Hike the mountains of the Alpujarra in the Sierra Nevada and the Sub-betica. Explore the classic cities of Granada and Córdoba. Savor the wines and cuisine of Andalucia. Stay in charming country inns. The tour ends in Córdoba, departure point for the AVE/fast train to Madrid.

 

Day 1   Málaga
Arrival in Málaga. Meet in hotel (Parador) at 17:00, Welcome drinks. Walking tour of Málaga including entrances into the Gibralfaro Fort, the Alcazaba, and Picasso’s House. Tapas Dinner in a downtown tapas bar. Accommodation: Parador de Gibralfaro Drinks-D

Day 2   Málaga • Alpujarras
Drive to Capileira with stop in Moorish fort in Salobrena (2 hour drive in total). Light lunch in Capileira. Three hour hike in the Alpujarras. Dinner. Accommodation: Hotel Finca Los Llanos   B-L-D

Day 3   Alpujarras
Four to five hour hike in the morning. Picnic lunch on the hike. Free afternoon and evening for relaxing, shopping. Accommodation: Hotel Finca Los Llanos   B-Picnic

Day 4   Alpujarras • Granada
Drive down to Granada, 1.5 hours. Walking tour of the city center and Albaicin with guide. Ham, cheese, wine, olive oil, and other specialty tasting in local deli just before lunch. Entrance and guided tour of the Alhambra. Accommodation: Palacio de los Navas   B-Deli Tasting-Dinner

Day 5   Granada
Hike around the city of Granada, 4 hours. Free afternoon and evening to explore, relax, shop. Flamenco show in the evening. Accommodation: Palacio de los Navas.   B

Day 6   Granada • Zuheros
Drive to Baena (1.5 hours) for an olive oil visit of the Nunez de Prado factory. Light lunch in Zuheros. Hike in the Sub-betica range around Zuheros, 3 hours. Hotel Zuhayra   B-L-D

Day 7   Zuheros • Córdoba
Drive into Cordoba (1 hour). Guided tour with a local guide of Cordoba, includes Mosque, Synagogue, and old city. Dinner. Accommodation: Hotel Churrasco   B-D

Day 8   Córdoba • out
Departure. Clients have options of getting the AVE to Sevilla, the AVE to Madrid, staying in Córdoba, or making their own plans. The guide will drive back to Granada after breakfast.   B
