16th, Tues. QUITO • BALTRA • SANTA CRUZ ISLAND
Morning flight to San Cristobal Island and ferry to Santa Cruz. Afternoon snorkel in the green waters of Tortuga Bay and option for sea kayaking. Welcome cocktail and dinner. Overnight: Adventura Lodge/superior ocean view B L D

 


17th, Wed. SANTA CRUZ • FLOREANA
The morning begins with a short hike to extraordinary sights—lava chambers, giant tortoises and spectacular birdwatching. After lunch, we ferry to Floreana, a 2 hour crossing. Watch for penguins, sea lions and the multicolored Floreana iguanas. Enjoy water time at Black Beach. Overnight: Floreana Lodge B L D

 


18th, Thur. FLOREANA • ISABELA
Morning transfer to the highlands and walk to the Pirate’s Cave, and continue, by way of Bird Hill, to a tortoise reserve. Late morning ferry to Isabela—where blue-footed boobies, penguins and sea turtles await. After lunch, depart for Las Tintoreras and a Bay tour. This is where lava field, sea, and mangrove forest merge with cloud capped volcanoes in the distance—a perfect backdrop for snorkeling in a shallow bay. You might spot white-tipped reef sharks or sea lions. Dinner at the lodge. Overnight : Isabela Lodge B L D

 


19th, Fri. ISABELA
After breakfast 4x4 transfer to the highlands where you can opt to ride on horseback to the edge of the 4 mile wide crater of the Sierra Negra Volcano. Hikers, descend into the crater if you’re tempted. After lunch back at the lodge, enjoy a free afternoon for snorkeling near the cleaning station from where you can easily observe the sea turtles. Dinner at the lodge. Overnight: as above B L D

 

 

20th, Sat. ISABELA • SANTA CRUZ
After breakfast excursion to the National Park of Cerro Orchilla, which shelters the Wall of Tears built by prisoners of a former penal colony. Stop at a breeding center for the rare, flat backed Galapagos tortoise. Late morning crossing to Puerto Ayora. Check into Aventura Lodge and lunch. After lunch tour the Charles Darwin Research Station, followed by freetime to wander, shop, relax. Dinner at the Lodge. Overnight: Aventura Lodge B L D


21st, Sun. SANTA CRUZ • SAN CRISTOBAL
After breakfast ferry to San Cristobal. Today’s visits include La Galapaguera and El Junco Lake, formed in a collapsed crater. The sweet water lagoon is home to exotic flowering plants that are framed by the Pacific in the distance. Easy hiking today, and time to relax late afternoon and evening. 22nd, Mon. SAN CRISTOBAL
After breakfast we sail to the iconic Kicker Rock which rises up 500 feet from the ocean. This rock is home to Tropic birds, Frigates, Boobies and others. We’ll return to the lodge for lunch, then depart for Lobos Island, a nesting spot for the Blue-footed Boobie. The island is ideal for snorkeling with sea lions nearby. Returning mid afternoon to the island, enjoy free time for last minute shopping before our farewell dinner. Overnight: as above B L D

 


23rd, Tues. SAN CRISTOBAL • QUITO
After breakfast enjoy a short nature walk to Frigatebird Hill, a nesting spot for several tropical bird species, the perfect farewell to the islands. Late morning departure for the airport and our flight to Quito. B
